How To Listen To Yourself

By Team Kwanza Jones

Listen to yourself

Have you ever had the fear of missing out (FOMO)? It stems from a feeling that there’s something that you should be doing, or something that you should be having because other people have it. Oftentimes, it’s not because of something that you really want. It could just be because of the pressure that others are putting on you that’s making you think that’s what you want.

Sometimes, people listen to others and just go with the flow without thinking about what they truly want. After they’ve accomplished what they were pursuing, they realize that they’re not happy because they were doing it for others.

Instead of depending on people to tell you what you want, or define your life for you, why not show up for yourself? Why not define what it is that you want?

You can do this by listening to yourself and being more aware of your feelings.

It will help you get into mental shape. It will give you clarity, and you will be able to better understand the things that you really want. ⚡

Here are 5 things that can help you listen to yourself.

1. Be more intentional 💪

Stop doing things on autopilot. Be more intentional with your words and actions. Put more thought into things before you do them. Always ask yourself, "is this what I want?" before you make decisions. That means you have to connect with the most important person in your life. YOU.

2. Figure out what you want 🎯

One of the best ways to figure out what you want is to write it down. It is important for you to get it out of your head and onto paper. Think about what is really important to you as you write it down. When you do this, it can become an amazing catalyst to inspire action and help you become resilient to FOMO.

3. Align your passion with your action 💜

Doing what you love is a great way to listen to yourself. Think about the things that you’d do even if you don’t get paid to do them. What is the thing you have a passion for? Beyond that, what is the thing you have a purpose for? When you marry action with purpose, it’s going to fuel your action. It will get you to a new level and help you continuously grow.

4. Tell your truth ⚡️

Being able to listen to yourself requires you to be honest with yourself and tell your truth. Tell people around you exactly what you want. This takes courage because your truth is not necessarily someone else’s truth. So, be courageous. Think about what makes you YOU. Be true to yourself and be you always.

5. Trust Yourself 👍

Believe in yourself and trust that you can make good decisions. Always be willing to learn and grow so that you can equip yourself with knowledge. The more you learn, the more confident you’ll become. Believe that you can make good decisions, then go out and act on them. Act on what you truly want. Not on what others want for you.

When you listen to yourself and understand who you truly are, you will see how valuable you are. Knowing and understanding what matters to you means you will always define YOU for yourself instead of letting others define it for you.

Build a better perception of yourself. Get your mind right, know your value and glow with pride.⚡
